Duke Zhou was a famous politician and thinker in early China, and the first thinker who put forward a systematic political and legal theory in the history of China. In the early years of the Western Zhou Dynasty, under the auspices of the Duke of Zhou, the traditional customs of the patriarchal clan system were systematically sorted out and supplemented, and a set of code of conduct with the maintenance of the patriarchal hierarchy as the core was formulated. The corresponding laws, regulations, etiquette and ceremonies became the only basis for governing the country, and the patriarchal clan system and state organizations were combined into one, which was called "ceremony" or "rites of the week".
