Sichuan Provincial Museum is a provincial history museum in China. Located in Renmin South Road, Chengdu. Founded in March of 194 1, it was originally named Sichuan Museum and later renamed West Sichuan Museum. 1952 was named Sichuan Provincial Museum. The original site is Mingyuan Building, the former imperial city. Then moved to Chengdu People's Park.

1965 moved to the current address. There are more than 6,543,800 pieces in the collection, including more than 2,000 first-and second-class cultural relics. This series has distinctive local characteristics. Among them, the humanoid stone tablet unearthed from the Neolithic site in Daxi, Wushan County, East Sichuan, dates back more than 5,000 years. It is made of a natural oval black stone 6 cm long and 3.6 cm wide, with eyes and nose carved on both sides to form a face. The bronze sword of the Warring States period unearthed in Dongsunba, Baxian County, Chongqing, is 62 cm long and has a flat handle. The sword body and hilt are cast at one time, which looks like willow branches, so it is called "willow branch sword". The whole body of the sword is covered with patterns. In addition to the tiger stripes on both sides of the spine, the sword base is also engraved with tiger stripes and pedicels, arms and palms. These ornamentation and patterns are valuable materials for studying Bashu culture. Han Dynasty portrait bricks and stone carvings occupy an important position in this collection.

The museum's "Sichuan Historical and Cultural Relics Exhibition" and related cultural relics exhibitions reflecting the history of Sichuan's revolutionary struggle exhibited about 4,000 cultural relics, with an exhibition hall area of nearly 3,000 square meters.

"Sichuan Historical and Cultural Relics Exhibition" includes Ziyang human skull fossils, Neolithic stone tools, jade and pottery unearthed from Daxi site, bronze weapons, tools and seals during the Yin and Zhou Dynasties and the Warring States Period, pottery sculptures such as portrait bricks and rap figurines in the Han Dynasty, and Shu porcelain in the Tang and Song Dynasties.

In the "Sichuan Revolutionary Cultural Relics Exhibition", there are weapons and various publicity materials of the Red Army in the Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base, relics left by the Red Army during its Long March through Sichuan, and cultural relics reflecting the brilliant achievements of revolutionary ancestors. The monographs compiled by the museum include large-scale excavation reports such as Sichuan Boat Coffin Burial and Wang Jian Tomb Excavation Report, as well as picture books such as Zhang Daqian's Dunhuang Copy Painting.

At the beginning of the museum, Professor Feng presided over the excavation of Tomb of Wangjian, the former emperor of Shu, under extremely difficult conditions, and obtained a number of precious collections. After 50 years of archaeological excavation, donation and extensive collection, our library has collected nearly 6.5438+0.6 million books so far. The cultural relics collected by Sichuan Provincial Museum have strong local characteristics of Bashu. The cultural relics in the collection are divided into eight categories, including ceramics, masonry, metals, coins, calligraphy and painting, national folklore, inscriptions and modern history, and more than 30 subcategories. It provides valuable information for studying the history, culture, economy, politics and military affairs of ancient Sichuan, developing socialist spiritual civilization and educating young people. These collections include the skull fossils of Ziyang people from Paleolithic to 25,000 years ago, as well as the works of famous domestic artists in recent years.

The tomb-guarding map of Shaoxing in the Northern Song Dynasty is a first-class national treasure cultural relic, which combines stone carvings and bricks. Wrong gold, wrong silver, wrong copper chimes, western anniversary bronze bells, elephant head bronze bells, are first-class national treasures. It is a representative collection of metal sculptures in the collection. This kind of cultural relics are mainly Bashu bronzes, which have strong local characteristics. Such representative cultural relics include Bashu bronze weapons, bronze seals, bronze pots unearthed from Baihuatan Middle School in Chengdu, bamboo carving pen holders in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and Mr. Zhang Daqian's calligraphy and painting seals. Among them, Jianggang statue in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty is the largest existing bronze statue in China. The scattered gold, silver and copper chimes composed of 14 bells unearthed in Xiaotian Creek are a complete set of ancient musical instruments discovered for the first time in our province.

Including the famous Song Huizong's Two Birds in Winter Plum, Zheng Banqiao's Four Friends in a Cold Year, Tang Yin's Cold Night in an Empty Pavilion, Liu Songnian's Big nave and other paintings. Among them, Jinlong's "Double Hook Ink Bamboo Map" is the only one in China. The works of famous artists such as Shi Tao, Wang, Huang Shen, Pan Tianshou, Ren Bainian, Xu Beihong and Zhang Dagan are also exhibited here. Xu Beihong's huge five-horse map in our library is the best in China. Dunhuang frescoes copied by Mr. Zhang Dagan are also a major feature of calligraphy and painting cultural relics in our library.

Collect ethnic and folk customs

Our library also attaches great importance to the collection of cultural relics. National cultural relics include Thangka, bronze Buddha statues, national costumes, embroidery and national production tools. Since 1950, our library has held more than 100 exhibitions of archaeological discoveries, treasures, major historical events and life stories of outstanding people, as well as cooperation with provincial museums.
