Yin Xi Neolithic Site in Xiaxian County is located in Xiaxian County, Shaanxi Province, north of China. This is a cultural site in the early Neolithic period. The site of Yin Xi Village has a total area of about 300,000 square meters. It was excavated by archaeologist Li Ji in 1926. This is the first Neolithic cultural site excavated by archaeologists in China.

The first excavation was discovered and presided over by Mr. Li Ji in 1926. This is the first field archaeological work independently presided over by China people, which is of epoch-making significance. The second excavation was carried out at 1994. Miaodigou Culture in Yangshao in Neolithic Age, the third phase of Xiwang Village, the second phase of Miaodigou Culture, Sanli Bridge Culture and Erligang Culture in Shang Dynasty, among which Miaodigou Culture and Miaodigou Culture are the most abundant.

Excavation area

The excavation area is located at the southern edge of the site, with an irregular rectangle on the plane, 8 meters long from east to west and 4-6 meters wide from north to south, covering an area of about 40 square meters. The excavation depth in most areas is 1.7 ~ 3m, the shallowest is 1.49m, and the deepest is 4.61m. 1926, 65438+ 10, 65438+may, the excavation started and ended in early February. It stopped for five days except for the rain. The actual excavation time is more than 40 days, and only 1 cubic meter is excavated every day on average. Such a small excavation area and such a slow excavation progress are unusual even in today's Neolithic Age and historical archaeological excavations.
