In which period in history did farmers have a higher status?
I think the peasants in the revolutionary period have the highest status.

(History is not good, don't spray)

First of all, the status of farmers in ancient times was not very high, but it was not low either. As the saying goes, "scholars, farmers and businessmen" rank second, and businessmen rank last and have the lowest status.

Farmers in this period were mainly self-sufficient and had to pay taxes. Although ranked second, it is not very high.

Now let's talk about farmers in modern China. Classes in modern China are mainly divided into three categories: the peasant class, the working class and the bourgeoisie.

When I say farmers, I mean the peasant class of course.

The main force of China's modern reform mainly depended on the resistance of the peasant class.

The first is the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement in 185 1-1864.

The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom Movement was a large-scale peasant movement led by Hong Xiuquan against feudal aggression, which lasted for a long time, reaching 14 years and was widely distributed, involving 18 provinces.

However, the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom movement failed, mainly because there was no advanced leadership class, which led to the failure of the revolution.

Later, the boxer movement included not only the peasant class, but also some craftsmen and businessmen. Although this movement also failed, it hit the rule of the Qing Dynasty and accelerated its demise.

Judging from the later revolution, the peasant class played a very important role in China's democratic revolution. They were the main force of China's democratic revolution, and farmers accounted for a large part of the total population at that time, which also played a role in transmitting advanced ideas at that time.

Revolution is inseparable from the support of farmers, so I think the status of farmers is the highest in this period.
