Why do Thai kings have China surnames? What does it have to do with China?
Many people who have been to Thailand or know some current events know that members of the Thai royal family are surnamed Zheng. The reason why the Thai royal family is surnamed Chinese is mainly because the first unified ruler in Thailand has Chinese descent. His name is Zheng Xin, also known as Daxin. Zheng Xin's father, Yongzheng, was born in Chenghai County, Chaozhou Prefecture, Guangdong Province during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. During the Yongzheng period, Yongzheng went south to Nanyang, made a living in Siam and started a gambling tax contract business. Later, he gradually became rich and married a Siamese woman, Luoyang. Zheng Xin was born in Ayutthaya, the capital of Thailand at that time. At the age of 35, Zheng Xin unified the then divided Siam, which is now Thailand. It is regarded as "the first of the five emperors in Thailand" by Thai people, similar to Qin Shihuang in China. Moreover, until today, the Thai royal family still regards Zheng Xin as a descendant. Thailand regards Zheng Xin's birthday 65438+February 28th as King Zheng's Day. On this day, Zheng Xin's sacrificial ceremony will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, to commemorate Zheng Xin. ?

However, the current Thai royal family is not descended from Zheng Xin. After Zheng Xin established the dynasty, although Zheng Xin recovered Siam, the country was weak because of years of war. In order to prevent the Burmese from invading again, Zheng Xin established a tributary relationship with the Qing Dynasty (the reason why Siam was recovered was actually because the Qing Dynasty defeated the Burmese army), which protected Siam and prevented Myanmar from attacking Siam again.

However, his general Zhao is ambitious. He planned a coup, forced Zheng Xin to step down and killed him. He also moved the capital to Bangkok and established the Bangkok dynasty, calling himself "Rama I". However, Zhaopiyekery was afraid that the Qing Dynasty would be angry because of his coup, so he lied that he was Zheng Xin's son Hua Zheng and claimed that Zheng Xin died of illness. Therefore, all the Thai kings in the past dynasties had Chinese names and continued Zheng Xin's surname.

Zheng Xin's descendants transported a set of Thai clothes and a set of Chinese clothes he wore to his hometown in China for burial. In his father's hometown, there was a tomb of the king, which still exists today.
