Urumqi has a long history of place names. The story of making Hexi in Furuwada, written in 925 AD, was discovered in Dunhuang, and was written by the envoys sent by the Li Dynasty in Khotan at that time to Shazhou and other places in Hexi. Urumqi has been recorded in this book. The brief introduction of the land characters in the Western Regions in the Ming Dynasty was called Weilumu, and the map of the Western Regions in the Qing Dynasty was called Urumqi. In the thirty years of Qing Qianlong (1765), the city was named "Dihua". Dihua in Qing Dynasty refers to Dihua City, and Urumqi is still commonly used in society. In the 10th year of Guangxu (1884), when Xinjiang was established as a province and Dihua became the provincial capital, Dihua gradually replaced Urumqi. 1 945165438+1October1Dihua municipal government was formally established. 1 954 February1Dihua City changed to Urumqi City.
