Due to the failure of China's diplomacy at the Paris Peace Conference and the victory of Russian October Revolution, the May 4th Movement broke out. During World War I, Japan's invasion of China was the main reason for the May 4th Movement, and a patriotic movement led by student struggle broke out in Beijing. The May 4th Movement took place under the new social and historical conditions, and at the same time it had characteristics that the old democratic revolution represented by the Revolution of 1911 did not have.

Moreover, the dark rule of Beiyang warlords was also the fundamental reason for the outbreak of the May 4th Movement. At that time, the national conditions were that the Northern Warlords betrayed the country, and domestic plunder and melee brought disaster to the people, so the class contradictions in China were also deepening.

Since the Revolution of 1911 did not overthrow the rule of imperialism and feudalism in China, China is still under the ravages of imperialism. Under the dark rule of Beiyang warlord, its economy is also very backward, and its sovereignty is still not independent. At the same time, it is still suffering from the fate of being arbitrarily slaughtered by the empire.

The May 4th Movement showed the thoroughness of anti-imperialism and anti-feudalism, and it was also a real mass movement, which promoted the spread of Marxism in China and the combination with the workers' movement in China.
