If you are just getting started, it is not recommended to read the original twenty-four histories directly. Look at some outlines compiled by modern people first, and then read the history of interest after you have the overall concept. This will get twice the result with half the effort. I recommend some classic books:

1, Qian Mu's Outline of National History, a masterpiece of a real master.

2. Zhu Shaohou's Ancient History of China.

3. Li Kan's Modern History of China.

Of course, if you think these books are still a little professional, I suggest you look for the textbook History of China published by People's Education Publishing House. The advantages of teaching materials are comprehensive, systematic and not in-depth. After reading it, you will have a general idea of the history of China.
