History of Beijing Railway Station
1965 65438+ 10/0/5, Beijing Military Region, Beijing Municipal Committee and Ministry of Railways jointly put forward a special report on Beijing subway construction planning scheme. Therefore, the Beijing Metro Leading Group headed by Yong Yang, commander of the Beijing Military Region, and the Beijing Metro Engineering Bureau of the Ministry of Railways were established. The most controversial step in subway construction is to dismantle the city wall and gate from Fuxingmen to Beijing Railway Station in Beijing to make room for the subway built by open excavation and backfill method. Architect Liang Sicheng proposed to keep the city wall as a symbol of old Beijing. Chairman Mao Zedong thinks it is better to tear down the city wall than the house. Finally, Premier Zhou Enlai demanded that the Zhengyangmen Gate Tower and the Arrow Tower should be preserved, while other gates and walls should be demolished.

1 July 9651The groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of Beijing Metro was held in the west of Yuquan Road. The subway was originally built to prepare for the war. The line connects the garrison station in Xishan, Beijing and Beijing Station. The project is designed according to the principle of "giving priority to combat readiness and giving consideration to traffic". Open cut construction is adopted, and landfill is carried out after the construction is completed. The 12th Division of Railway Corps, Metro Engineering Bureau and Beijing Urban Construction Bureau will carry out construction. This is the first underground railway designed and built in China.

At the same time, the section from Changchun Street Station to Beijing Station was changed into a part of beijing subway line 2. At this point, Beijing Metro 1 Line (Beijing Metro 1) and Ring Road (beijing subway line 2) began to operate independently.
