[Edit this paragraph] Two temples
Chizhou tourist attractions
The second temple is a residential building in Jiangnan in the Ming Dynasty. The temple gate faces the ancient mountain road, Longtan River comes from the southeast, bypassing the temple, and the environment is elegant. This abbot monk feels good. In the past, some good men and women went to Jiuhua Mountain to worship God, burned incense in the temple and kowtowed to the Bodhisattva. The second temple is the starting point of their worship. The "two saints" enshrined in the temple are dressed in black gauze, royal clothes, jade belts around their waists and boots with soles. He is seven feet tall, with a plump face, chest-high black beard and bright eyes. These two golden statues are exactly like twin brothers. The so-called "double saints" here are actually just two uncles of Jin Qiaojue. It is neither the Duke of Zhou nor Confucius as commonly mentioned by Confucianism, nor the mythical figure "Hehe Erxian" in folklore. There is a legend here. Jin Qiaojue is a noble in Silla royal family, and his uncle naturally belongs to a noble family, but his name is unknown. After Jin Qiaojue became famous in Jiuhua Mountain and founded a Buddhist temple, monks from Silla came to worship him as a teacher, and the number of apprentices increased dramatically. But life in the mountains is very hard. Jin Qiaojue used to cook with white clay mixed with rice. Gao Tang's mother was heartbroken and invited her two uncles to travel to the mountains. Two uncles stayed in Jiuhua Mountain under the influence of their nephew Jin Qiaojue. Later, because he violated the five commandments of "no killing, no stealing, no adultery, no nonsense and no drinking", he was driven down the mountain by Jin Qiaojue. In memory of Jin Qiaojue's two uncles going to Jiuhua Mountain, later generations built a temple at the foot of the mountain to offer them food and vegetarian food. In the past, in some places in southern Anhui, there was a kind of "double holy meeting". That is, on July 30 in the summer calendar, a "Tibetan gathering" was held to burn incense and recite scriptures, and participants paid for vegetarian meals. The next day, on the first day of August in the Gregorian calendar, a "Second Holy Meeting" was held to offer meat and wine to Jin Qiaojue's two uncles. The participants also burned incense to worship, and the dinner was full of wine and meat, which was quite different from the Buddhist "Bonsai Meeting" and "Guanyin Meeting".
