Reunion dinner originated in China. Fans first appeared in Shang Dynasty, and were made of colorful pheasant hair, so they were called "barrier fans". At that time, the fans were not used to fan the wind and enjoy the cool, but to keep out the sun and sand when the emperor went out for inspection. After the Western Han Dynasty, fans began to enjoy the cool.
A fan made of bird hair. This is an ancient Chinese traditional handicraft. Feather fan is the earliest fan family with a history of more than 2000 years. The late Han Dynasty prevailed in Jiangdong. Fu Xian, a land fighter in Jin Dynasty, wrote "Feather Fan Fu". According to legend, Zhuge Liang in Shu and Jin Dynasty all had the task of catching white feather fans and commanding the whole army. At the beginning, the fan had ten feathers and the handle was carved like a bird's bone. After the Eastern Jin Dynasty, the feather was reduced by eight and changed to a long handle.
Characteristics of feather fan
Feather fans are naturally made of bird feathers. In addition to the common goose feathers, there are pheasant tails, crane tails, carved feathers, eagle feathers, peacock feathers, magpie wings and so on. From the outside to the inside, there are ten feathers on each side of a bird's wing. The first feather to the fifth feather are not sharp, and they are "forward", "fit", "wide", "big screen" and "second screen" in turn, and the rest are "knife feathers" with wings not nested inside.
Feather fan is centered on the handle and has feathers symmetrically on both sides. Depending on the size of feathers, a fan covers several feathers, ranging from a dozen to twenty or thirty. Generally, bamboo sticks or metal threading pipes are arranged and formed. Fan handles are generally made of bamboo and wood, and high-grade ones are made of animal bone horns, jade and ivory. The tail of the handle is either threaded with silk thread or tasselled.
