The Origin of Place Names of Daxing Palace;
Daxing Palace is the place name of Nanjing, named after the Nanjing Palace of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty was built here. According to the historical records of the Qing Dynasty, the Qianlong Palace was rebuilt in the former site of Jiangning Weaving Office during the reign of Kangxi and Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty.
Jiangning Weaving Department in Qing Dynasty is the location of Daxing Palace, which probably starts from Longpan Middle Road in the east, ends in Beiting Lane in the west, ends in Mianjing Lane, Kexiang Lane and Li Renxiao in the south, and ends in the back street of the Yangtze River in the north (speaking of Zhujiang Road). Both the length and width are in the range of 1 km.
Jiangning Weaving Bureau (official residence and residence of main personnel), Jiangning Weaving House (general's official residence) and Jiangning Weaving Bureau (Nanjing Yunjin Weaving Factory) in Qing Dynasty are collectively called "Jiangning Weaving". According to research, Cao Xueqin, the author of A Dream of Red Mansions, was born in Jiangning Weaving Department.
1984, Nanjing archaeologists found a pile of Taihu stones, a batch of yarn-dyed dyes, and the bottom of a porcelain bowl with the words "Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty" under the southeast corner of the then Daxing Palace Primary School. Appraised by Nanjing archaeologists, it is confirmed that this place is the former site of Jiangning Weaving Department, and it is inferred that this place should be the residence of Cao family and the former residence of Cao Xueqin.
Daxing Palace, the place name of Nanjing now, is actually the district name, which refers to the range of circular patterns drawn around the intersection of Zhongshan East Road, Taiping South Road and Taiping North Road in Nanjing today with a radius of 500 to 800 meters.
