The Origin of Nanjing Gaojing Old Street
Gaochun old street, also called Xichun Old Street, is located in Xichun Town, Gaochun District, Nanjing. It is the commercial center of Gaochun, the best preserved ancient architectural complex in Jiangsu Province, and is known as the "Second Confucius Temple in Jinling".

Gaochun old street has a history of more than 900 years since it was founded in the Song Dynasty. The old street is more than 800 meters long and 4.5-5.5 meters wide. Because it is in the shape of "I", it is also called Ziyi Street. The buildings on both sides are brick and wood structures with two floors above and below. Modeling has both Anhui Huizhou style and distinctive local traditional style.

There are many Ming and Qing buildings in gaochun old street. These ancient buildings are listed by the water, with white walls and blue tiles, cornices and upturned corners, exquisite brick and wood stone carvings and traditional calligraphy plaques. They are simple and elegant, and are praised by Chinese and foreign scholars and tourists as "the epitome of oriental civilization" and "the artistic treasure house of ancient buildings".
