Brief history: The word Canada comes from the Huron-Iroquois language, which means "village, small house or shack". 1435, the French explorer Cartier came here and asked the Indians the name of this place. The chief replied "Canada", which means a nearby village. Cartier was mistaken for the whole region and was called Canada from now on.
