2. Early Tang, Middle Tang and Late Tang.
3. Early Tang, Middle Tang, Prosperous Tang and Late Tang.
This division stems from history and literature. Personally, it is reasonable to divide the Tang Anshi Rebellion into two historical stages.
According to Gao Kun's Collection of Tang Poetry in Ming Dynasty, Tang poetry is clearly divided into four stages, namely, early stage, prosperous stage, middle stage and late stage, and the time limit for staging, development status and representative writers are generally explained. The early stage, the prosperous stage, the middle stage and the late stage have their own characteristics, and at the same time they contain various interactive changes, including ups and downs, positive changes and primary and secondary changes. Later generations generally recognized and adopted Gao Kun's viewpoint when studying the staging of Tang poetry.
The trichotomy is mainly represented by the third part of Fan Wenlan's A Brief History of China. The early period is from Tang Gaozu to the 29th year of Xuanzong Kaiyuan (AD 618-741). In the middle period, from the first year of Tianbao in Xuanzong to the fifteenth year of Zongyuan (742-820 AD); In the later period, from the first year of Changqing to the fourth year (82 1-807), the division was based on "the existence and development of major contradictions within the ruling class".
