As a special history, as a textbook for the course of China Modern Cultural History in the history department of colleges and universities, this book takes the culture of 1826- 1956 as the research object, divides the modern cultural history of China into six stages and nine chapters, focusing on the growth and evolution of modern new culture:

1826- 1894, the preparation period of modern capitalist new culture in China; 1895- 19 12, the initial stage of new culture; 1912-1927, the foundation period of the new culture; 1927- 1937, the new culture construction period; 1931-1945, China's culture deteriorated, its national spirit was unprecedented, and the nationality of its new culture was strengthened. From 1946 to 1956, new democracy has formed a complete social and cultural form since childhood, which is the last stage of modern cultural development.
