After the demolition of the Kowloon walled city, the Hong Kong government converted the original site into a park. Originally planned to be called "Jiulongzhai Park", but during the demolition period, some ancient cultural relics were discovered under the guidance of the old residents, including: two granite stones unearthed from the original site of the south gate of Zhaizhai City (the main gate of Jiurizhai City), engraved with the words "South Gate" and "Jiulongzhai City"; The remaining wall foundation of the city wall, the wall foundation of the southeast gate, the drainage ditch built along the inner wall of the city wall, and the stone street next to it. During World War II, people removed the stone and buried it in the soil inside the city wall to prevent it from being destroyed by the Japanese army. The government renamed the park Kowloon Walled City Park, and all these cultural relics were placed in the "South Gate Nostalgia" scenic spot. In the past, Dapeng Jiefu was a yamen with three entrances and four compartments. After restoration and reconstruction, it became an exhibition hall, displaying stone tablets related to the history of Zhaicheng (including the words "Mo Yuan" and "Shou" in Boxing Book and the "Seal Meeting" in the 12th year of Guangxu, which recorded the expenses of soldiers on business trips) and historical pictures of Zhaicheng.
The whole park is built according to the specifications of Jiangnan Garden, which is divided into four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter, and eight different scenic spots. In addition to the "South Gate Nostalgia", which displays the cultural relics of Zhaicheng, there are other scenic spots, such as Invited Mountain Tower, Six Arts Stage, Ghost Wall Stone, Tongleyuan and Jingxi Paper Pavilion. In Guangyin Pavilion, potted plants of Lingnan School are placed in four seasons, and there is also a "Five Blessed Longevity Crane Map" made of beer bottles, bowls, plates and leftover garden building materials.
Kowloon Chengzhai Park is connected with the adjacent Carpenter Road Park, forming a huge public rest area.
