History of Baja California Peninsula
1822 Baja California became independent from Spain. After the US-Mexico War (1846ㄢ848), the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo divided California into two parts, half belonging to Mexico and half to the United States. The construction of roads, ports and airports began in the 1960s. Tijuana -Cabo Sanlucas Highway has been completed. Now we are developing industry and expanding agricultural and mining production. The industry in the northern half of the peninsula has also developed, while the isolated southern half has developed slowly.
