Xia Dynasty followed Guo Zhi and Ai Guo. The ancient book records that "Yu takes two dragons, and the country is imperial." "There was a Guo Hou in ancient times, and there was a commander in chief in the Xia Dynasty." Guo Zhihe is the earliest Guo surname recorded in China. Therefore, Guo Zhihe, a Xia native whose capital is Yangcheng (now Dengfeng East, Henan Province) in Chinese history, is regarded as the ancestor of Guo by later generations.
