1, Winter Olympics

The 2022 Beijing-Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Games will be jointly held in Beijing and Zhangjiakou, People's Republic of China (PRC) from February 4 to 20, 2022, with Beijing as the host city and Zhangjiakou as the co-host city. This is the third Olympic Games held in China and the first Winter Olympic Games held in China after the Beijing Olympic Games and Nanjing Youth Olympic Games.

There are 15 major events and 102 minor events in this Winter Olympics. Beijing will undertake all the ice projects, and Yanqing County of Beijing and Zhangjiakou City of Hebei Province will undertake all the snow projects. Beijing became the first city to host the Summer Olympic Games and the Winter Olympic Games in Olympic history, and the second capital city to host the Winter Olympic Games after Oslo 1952 70.

At the same time, China has become the first country to realize the "Grand Slam" of the Olympic Games (hosting the Olympic Games, Paralympic Games, Youth Olympic Games, Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics successively).

2. Development history

The Winter Olympics originated at the end of 19 and the beginning of the 20th century. Some ice and snow sports, such as skiing, sledding, skating and ice hockey, are gradually popularized and developed in European and American countries. 1887 Norway established the world's first ski club. 1890, Canada established the world's first ice hockey association. 1892 the international skating Federation was established in the Netherlands.

1893, the first men's speed skating championship was held in Amsterdam. From 65438 to 0908, France established the International Ice Hockey Federation all over the world. With the increasing popularity of ice and snow sports, Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, suggested holding the Winter Olympic Games alone.

Originally, the Winter Olympic Games was held every four years, and it was held in the same country as the Summer Olympic Games. Since the second Winter Olympics in 1928, the venues of the Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics have been changed to different countries. From 65438 to 0994, the Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics were held every two years. In order to stagger the time of the Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics, only 1992 Winter Olympics and 1994 Winter Olympics are separated by two years.
