Data of flood disaster in Pazhou Bay, Jiayu, Hubei from 65438 to 0998.
In the early morning of July 5th, 1998, the flood-fighting soldiers and civilians set out on the battlefield 3 kilometers away from the sluice of Siyiyu Wharf in Jiayu, Hubei. On July 4, the water level difference between the inside and outside of the pier of Siyigong dike in the Yangtze River reached 9.24 meters, only 0.29 meters away from the design index. At this point, the sluice foundation began to appear bubbles, leakage and other dangerous situations. If it is not eliminated in time, the consequences will be unimaginable. 500 officers and men of Zhouqiao Force in Hubei Military Region

The third flood peak of the Yangtze River began to pass through Wuhan, and the highest water level in Wuhan reached 28.92 meters, the second highest water level in history since 1933. In the past, more than 2,000 people, including soldiers along the Yangtze River in Wuhan and militia company organized by Xianning Military Division, rushed to the scene and immediately built a dam to store water to carry out back-pressure rescue. Under the scorching sun, the rescue soldiers and civilians built a human wall on the Yuma River more than 3 meters deep, filled thousands of straw bags with soil, and then transported them to the designated place. After more than 10 hours of fighting, on the Yuma River with a width of more than 120 meters, an earth embankment to protect the gate was closed. The danger was eliminated in time.

At about 8: 30 pm on August 1 Sunday, Jiayu Yangtze River in Hubei burst its banks. An obvious feature of this big flood is that the high water level can't last. Due to the support of the downstream flood, the flood fell slowly. That night, the water level of Wuhan Pass began to drop from 29.20 meters, and only dropped by 25 centimeters in 8 hours. But even so, the soldiers and civilians who have been fighting floods for more than a month are still relieved. Just then, the Yangtze River levee in Pazhou Bay, Jiayu, Hubei Province, which is adjacent to Jiangxia District of Wuhan City, suddenly burst due to long-term immersion. At about 8 o'clock that night, there was a strong piping in the river town section of the Yangtze River levee 40 meters away from the bottom of the embankment. About half an hour later, the dike body at the piping began to collapse, and the dike burst instantly. The surging river rushed from the levee with a height of 10 to the two towns along the river: Paizhou Town and Hezhen Township.

In the evening 10, the flood rushed to the reach of Hu Sha Gate, the main dike of the Yangtze River. Soon, dozens of square kilometers of land in these two towns instantly became Wang Yang. More than 300 officers and men of a pontoon brigade of the People's Liberation Army and an anti-aircraft artillery regiment 100 officers and men stationed on the nearby levee were dispersed by this ruthless flood before they arrived at the scene, and seven or eight military vehicles on the levee were also washed into the water. 56,000 people were trapped by the flood. People desperately hide upstairs, climb trees, run high, and run to all places where they can escape.

Jia Zhijie, Secretary of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, Jiang Zhuping, Governor of Hubei Province, and Niu Sheng Mao, Minister of Water Resources, who is inspecting flood control work in Hubei Province, quickly organized and deployed rescue work for trapped victims.

At 0: 35 pm, the vanguard of Qiao Zhou Brigade arrived at Hushamen from Wuhan. 12, the provincial public security department commandos arrived to provide close-range lighting equipment for rescue work. At the beginning of the rescue work, 30 assault boats and rubber boats were sent to various places for rescue. The nearest village to the gap is Bao Zhong Village. When the People's Liberation Army arrived in the worst-hit village by six assault boats, there were people on the trees and roofs, crying in the night sky, and some houses and telephone poles had collapsed. The rescue task is very heavy and difficult.

At 2: 30 am on August 2, three helicopters appeared over Hezhen Garden and dropped more than 20,000 life jackets. At 5: 30 in the morning, the Guangzhou Military Region sent more 100 assault boats to the rescue, and hundreds of officers and men of a certain air force rushed to the disaster area. At 6 o'clock, four assault boats were put into rescue, and a large number of civilian boats in neighboring Jiangxia, Hannan, Honghu and Xiantao were also put into rescue. At this time, more than 2000 people's liberation army, armed police officers and police officers have been involved in the rescue of the main dikes in the Yangtze River. At 2 pm, 10 barge entered the levee from the breach to transfer the trapped people.

On August 3, the rescue work was coming to an end.
