The Historical Evolution of Beibei District
According to historical records, from the Xia and Shang Dynasties to the early Spring and Autumn Period, this was the residential area of Pu people. From the middle and late Spring and Autumn Period to the mid-Warring States Period, it was the land of Pakistan. The middle and late Warring States period was the land of Chu. At the end of the Warring States period, it was Qinba County. Dongyang County was established in the Southern Qi Dynasty, and Baibei Town in Ba County was established in the Qing Dynasty.

In the twenty-fifth year of the Republic of China (1936), Jiangbei, Bishan and Baxian towns and townships were zoned, and the Jialing River Three Gorges Rural Construction Experimental Zone was established and set as a first-class county. During the Anti-Japanese War, the National Government clearly designated Chongqing as the capital. Because of its beautiful scenery, Beibei is only a few tens of kilometers away from the urban area, and it is accessible by Jialing River waterway and Beiqing Highway, so it was quickly identified as an important resettlement area. For a time, in Beibei and its nearby towns, hundreds of government agencies, scientific research institutions, universities and cultural units moved in, and thousands of politicians, scientists, educators and literary artists gathered. Beibei is famous from now on, and it is known as "the capital city" and "the small capital city". Beibei has also become an important cultural area in the rear area. At that time, Xiaba in Beibei, Shapingba in the urban area, Baisha Dam in Jiangjin and Huaxi Dam in Chengdu were also called "Four Cultural Dams" in the rear area. According to the census statistics of 1940, there are 97,349 people in the experimental area * *, a net increase of 32,065 people compared with 1936.

In the 31st year of the Republic of China (1942), in order to adapt to the development situation of Beibei in wartime, the Sichuan provincial government reported to the Executive Yuan of the National Government for approval, and changed the Jialing River Three Gorges Rural Construction Experimental Zone into Beibei Administration, which was under the leadership of the Sichuan provincial government and supervised by the Third District Commissioner's Office. At this point, Beibei was listed as a formal administrative region, and its administrative authority was further expanded. With the increase of population and the strengthening of urban management, urban construction is also accelerating. Large-scale trench filling and flood control, sewer construction and reconstruction, road widening were carried out, and new roads such as Zhongshan, Zhongzheng and Linsen were built one after another. With the continuous expansion of urban area, the appearance of towns has been greatly improved. It gradually developed into satellite towns with a certain municipal foundation, complete public facilities and beautiful urban environment, and became a model of urban development in the western region during the Republic of China.

Beibei during the Anti-Japanese War was not only an important cultural area in the rear area, but also an important energy base, textile industry base and experimental base of some important undertakings in Chongqing. According to the statistics of 1945, there are more than 60 coal mines in Beibei, such as Tianfu, Baoyuan, Huaying, Quanji, Fuxinglong and Sancaisheng. There are 7 special coal docks, more than 30 coal storage yards/kloc-0, more than 20,000 coal employees and an annual output of more than 700,000 tons of raw coal. The coal produced in Beibei reaches Nanchong, Daxian, Suining and other places through the "Golden Waterway" of Jialing River, and Chongqing and Jiangjin, Luzhou, Yibin, Leshan and other places through the Yangtze River, which mainly guarantees 70% of industrial coal burning in Chongqing and weapons, textiles, machinery, smelting, ships, electric power and other enterprises near 1228. After the outbreak of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, Beibei Three Gorges Dyeing and Weaving Factory established in 1930 merged with Changzhou Dacheng Weaving Factory and Hankou Longchang Dyeing and Weaving Factory to form Daming Dyeing and Weaving Co., Ltd., covering an area of 32,000 square meters, with workshops 182 and more than 230 sets of equipment. Daming blue cloth developed and produced by ourselves is of high quality and low price, and sells well in southwest China. In addition, there are the third branch of Southwest Hemp Weaving Factory Co., Ltd., private Xiexing Dyeing and Weaving Factory, Chongqing Shuhua Cloth Factory Beibei Branch, Beibei Huang Jue Cotton Textile Society, etc. During the Anti-Japanese War, Beibei was also designated as the experimental area of cadastral consolidation of the National Government, the demonstration area of supporting yeomen farmers and the experimental area of honorary military autonomy.

After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), 1950 established the Beibei Administrative Office of Chongqing, and later renamed it Beibei Administrative Office of East Sichuan. 195 1 year, Beibei, the East Sichuan Administrative Office, was established as the capital of the East Sichuan People's Administrative Office and the summer office of the Central Southwest Bureau. 1953, which is the sixth district and the first-class district in Chongqing. 1955, named Beibei District, Chongqing. 1995, Shuitu Town and Jingguan Town were included in Beibei. In 2004, the original North Hot Spring Town, Longfengqiao Town and Dongyang Town were changed to North Hot Spring Street, Longfengqiao Street and Dongyang Street. In 2005, the former Jindaoxia Town and Pianyan Town merged into Jindaoxia Town, and Sansheng Town and Shiba Dog Town merged into Sansheng Town.
