The oldest and largest ancient wooden structure building in China is the North Monk Hall in Wutai Mountain. Wutaishan Beige Temple, located ten miles northeast of Doucun Village, Wutai County, Shanxi Province, was founded in the era of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty (AD 47 1-499). This hall integrates the four arts of architecture, sculpture, calligraphy and painting in the Tang Dynasty, and has extremely high historical and artistic value.
