1957 was called "town repairing township"; 1958, changed to starlight commune; 1959, changed to Qiao Liu commune; 1984 changed to town. 1997, with an area of 32.8 square kilometers and a population of 30,000, governs Fengxian, Wangjiawan, Yangang, Wangdongqiao, Shen Xiu, Qiao Liu, Earthquake, Wenqiaobei, Liuxi, Tangqiao, Guo Chang, Yougang, Deng Qiao, Office, Xie Zhuang, Xu Yuan, Jiaoqiao, Songdian and Liuhai. In 2006, Fengxian Village was merged into Qiao Liu Community, governing 1 community and 17 administrative villages. In May 2000, Hero Town merged. In March 2007, Liuqiao Town merged with Xinlian Town to form a new Liuqiao Town. The town government entered Liuqiao Town and connected with Liuliu Road. After the adjustment of administrative divisions, the administrative area of Liuqiao Town is 107.36 square kilometers with a population of 77,500. It has jurisdiction over 2 neighborhood committees and 10 administrative villages.
