Lugou Bridge

Located outside Guang 'anmen, Fengtai District, about 20 kilometers away from the city center.

The bridge is named after crossing Lugou River (now Yongding River).

Lugou Bridge ranks first among the three famous ancient bridges in China and is a national key cultural relic protection unit.

The other two are Zhao Zhouqiao in Hebei and Luoyang Bridge in Quanzhou.

History:

Lugou Bridge was built in the 29th year of Jin Dading (1 189), with a history of more than 800 years.

Lugou Ferry, which was crossed by the bridge, was the only passage in and out of Beijing at that time. The original temporary facilities such as pontoon bridges and wooden bridges cannot adapt to the traffic conditions where the capital is located. So a durable stone bridge-Lugou Bridge, formerly known as Guangli Bridge, was built.

Architecture:

Lugou Bridge is a large stone bridge, 1 1 arch, with a total length of 266.5 meters and a deck width of 9.3 meters. The bridge is made of huge white stones.

The pier is built in the shape of a boat, and there is a diversion tip named "Dragon Sword" in front to resist the rapids.

This bridge is advanced in architectural design and well-made.

The architectural decoration of Lugou Bridge is also unique.

The bridge fence consists of 2,865,438+0 sentry posts nearly one and a half meters high connected with the fence board. At the top of each sentry, there is a big lion and a little lion, with different images, either hidden or exposed. Therefore, there is a folk saying that there are countless lions in Lugouqiao.

According to the investigation of the archaeological team, there are 485 large and small stone lions in * *.

Lugou Xiaoyue-One of the Eight Scenes of Yanjing

Lugou Xiaoyue is one of the eight scenic spots in Yanjing, which began in the Jin Dynasty.

At the eastern end of the bridge, there is a tablet pavilion. The tablet was written by Emperor Qianlong in Qing Dynasty, with the front of it being "Lugou Xiaoyue" and the back being poems of Lugouqiao.

July 7th Incident:

1On July 7th, 937, the Japanese invaders entrenched in the west bank of Yongding River used the disappearance of a soldier as an excuse to forcibly cross the Lugou Bridge to search the ancient city of Wanping, which was rejected by the 29th Route Army of the Kuomintang.

So the Japanese invaders attacked Qiaodong on a large scale, which was the "July 7 Incident" that shocked China and foreign countries.

Lugou bridge is located in the southwest of Beijing 15km. It is named after crossing Lugou River, the Yongding River today. It is the oldest existing stone arch bridge in Beijing.

1On July 7, 937, the Japanese invaders created the "Lugouqiao Incident" here, and China's anti-Japanese army fired the first shot of the all-round anti-Japanese war in Lugouqiao.

Lugou Bridge was built in 1 189 and rebuilt in 1444.

The bridge was rebuilt in the thirty-seventh year of Kangxi (1698) because it was destroyed by floods.

Lugou Bridge is 266.5m long and 7.5m wide, with culvert 1 1 hole.

There are 140 stone guardrails on the left and right sides of the bridge, and there are about 500 stone lions lying on the stigma, which are different in expression and lifelike.

There is a white marble tablet in the pavilion in the east of Qiaodong, titled "Lugou Xiaoyue", which is one of the eight scenic spots in Yanjing.

Italian traveler Kyle Poirot once described the bridge in his travel notes and admired it.

To the east of Lugou Bridge is wanping county, which was built in the 11th year of Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty (1638).

1On the night of July 7th, 937, Japanese troops stationed in Fengtai conducted military exercises in China Garrison near Lugou Bridge.

After the exercise, the Japanese army unreasonably demanded to enter the ancient city of Wanping, which was defended by the China army, on the pretext of lacking a single soldier, but was rejected by the defenders in China.

The Japanese army then attacked the ancient city of Wanping and the Lugou Bridge in the east of the bridge in an attempt to seize the Lugou Bridge.

This is the Lugouqiao Incident or the July 7th Incident.

Under the outrageous provocation and attack of the Japanese army, the officers and men of the 29th Army, China's garrison, couldn't bear it any longer and fought back, firing the first shot of the Chinese nation's all-round fight against the Japanese invaders.

The Lugouqiao Incident marked the beginning of the whole Chinese nation, War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.

From then on, the people of China fought in unity under the anti-Japanese national united front advocated by China Producers' Party, and finally defeated the Japanese aggressors.

At the same time, War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression also made the battlefield in China an important battlefield in the world anti-fascist war and made outstanding contributions to the victory of the world anti-fascist war.

Up to now, the bullet marks of the Japanese army can still be seen on the sentry post of Lugouqiao and the wall of Wanping ancient city.

Lugou Bridge, which only allows pedestrians to pass, is a national key protected cultural relic.

At present, Lugouqiao, Wanping Ancient City, China War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression Memorial Sculpture Park and China War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression Memorial Hall have become the largest patriotic education bases in China to commemorate War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression.
