In modern times, it spread widely, especially in Hebei and Sichuan provinces, and many experts appeared. There are different opinions about the origin of pedal boxing: one thinks that it is developed on the basis of drunken boxing, the difference is that drunken boxing falls in the shape of drunkenness, while pedal boxing just falls without drunkenness; On the other hand, all kinds of boxing are mixed with falling movements, but the ground-stepping boxing is mainly falling movements, which was called "nine rolls and eighteen falls" in ancient times, commonly known as "eighteen rolls on the spot". In Ji Xiao Ji written by Qi Jiguang, there are two sayings: "Li's leg is long in Shandong" and "Zhang fell down a thousand times", which shows that ground-stepping boxing has a long history. Ji Xiaoxin's book contains "hob", "rolling double knife" and "rolling dragon gun", all of which are used to subdue the enemy.
Among the floor-stepping boxing in Shandong Province, there are Donghua Boxing (No.3 Road), Hundred Horses Going Down the Mountain (No.2 Road) and Sixteen Legs Fighting (two people practicing relatively). It is said that drunken boxing is also considered as a kind of "ground-stepping boxing" because of its many somersaults and somersaults. In fact, drunken boxing has absorbed the basic skill of "stepping on the ground" in its development, while drunken eight immortals boxing is composed of eight moves named after the Eight Immortals (Han Zhongli, Han Xiangzi, Lv Dongbin, Uncle Cao Yuan, He Xiangu, Lan Caihe and Zhang He), which is equivalent to the "Seven Blessed People" in Japan (the patron saint of Japanese folk), and each immortal has his own special drunkenness. However, the recumbent boxing does not always roll on the ground, and some moves also include techniques such as hitting and kicking in general boxing. In addition, the fighting moves of this sect are not just the use of boxing. There are also lying single knife, lying double knife, lying nine-section whip and so on, all of which are rolling on the ground.
After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), ground-stepping boxing was listed as a martial arts competition, which was deeply loved by people.
