This summer vacation, because my father was in Beijing on business, my mother took me to visit my father in Beijing. We took the train from Yancheng to Beijing all night, and my father took us to Tiananmen Square to play. Tiananmen Square is really big! There is a monument to the people's heroes, a memorial hall for Chairman Mao and a five-star red flag flying in the square. Tiananmen Gate and Tiananmen Square face each other. Dad said Tiananmen Square is the symbol of China and the most magnificent and beautiful place in Beijing. The next day, my father took us to visit the Forbidden City. My father said that the Forbidden City was the emperor's home. Entering the Forbidden City, we saw the place where the emperor worked, as well as huge bronze bells, stone lions and rare treasures in many collections. After seeing the Forbidden City, we also went to Wangfujing. Wangfujing snack street has snacks from Beijing and other places, such as mutton kebabs, mala Tang and mung bean cakes, and there is also a stage on the street. Some people are performing acrobatics. My mother said that Beijing has more traditional cultural characteristics than our hometown. On the third day, my father took us to the Great Wall. The Great Wall is undulating, tilting up and down for a while. We managed to climb the slope, and we were careful when going downhill, for fear that we would roll down. After walking for about an hour, we climbed the platform of the eighth peak. My father said that people who climb the platform of the Eighth Peak are brave people. I am glad to cheer for being a hero. Dad also took us to visit the Bird's Nest, Water Cube, Summer Palace, Zoo, Temple of Heaven, Tsinghua University and other places, which made me know a lot of historical knowledge. Traveling in Beijing really opened my eyes! '
