The origin of Hou Shi
There are five main sources of Hou surname, which are Ji surname, Si surname and Shu Duan in the Spring and Autumn Period. There is also a saying that the original surname is Hou, and later generations take this as their surname, and some ethnic minorities change their surnames in Chinese.

1, from Ji surname: the first surname is Hou. According to Yuan He's Compilation, during the Spring and Autumn Period, descendants of Jin Gong fled to other countries and took Hou as their surname. At that time, Zheng had Hou Yiduo and Hou Duoyu, Lu had Hou and Hou Fei, Qi had Hou Dynasty, and Wei had Hou Ying. According to the book "Tang Prime Minister's Lineage Table", the late Jin Dynasty was killed by Emperor Wu of Jin Dynasty, and later people fled abroad, taking "Hou" as their surname. According to textual research, this Hou Shi is a descendant of Zhou Wenwang more than 3,000 years ago, and belongs to authentic blood. Therefore, the descendants of surname take Hou as the ancestor of surname.

2. From Si's family: According to the research of surnames, some descendants were sealed in Hou, and their descendants took the land as their surname, called Hou Shi.

3. Sinicization from Xianbei and other ethnic minorities: In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, there was a tribe in Xianbei whose surname was "post-Chen Mo". After Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty moved his capital to Luoyang in 494, his descendants were gradually assimilated by the Han nationality, so his surname was omitted and changed to Hou Shi.

4. From: The earliest descendants are Qin Shihuang's, Cang Di Qin Shihuang's, surnamed Hou, Ming Gang, and the word is outstanding, namely. It is said that Cang Xie is the official historian of the Yellow Emperor and the creator of Chinese characters. His original surname was Hou Gang, whose first name was Jie, and later generations took Hou as their surname. This Hou surname has a history of at least 4000 years.

5. From Duan Shu: This branch originated in Hou Shi. According to the Hou Cheng Monument in Jinxiang, Duan Shu, his younger brother, was crusaded for rebellion at the beginning of the Spring and Autumn Period. He first fled to Yan and then to Gongshu (now Huixian County, Henan Province), so he was called Gongshu Section. After uncle Duan died, he changed his son's surname to Hou.
