When was Buddhism introduced to China?
Buddhism was introduced into China in 2 BC.

Buddhism began to be introduced into Chinese mainland. At present, it has been recorded as early as 2 BC. During the Sui and Tang Dynasties, Han Buddhism entered its heyday, forming China's unique schools of Han Buddhism, such as Tiantai Sect, Pure Land Sect and Zen Sect, which spread to Korea, Japan, Vietnam and other places.

There were many sects of Buddhism in China in the past, and now there are eight popular ones, namely: Sanlun religion (also known as Dharma Buddhism), Yoga religion (also known as Dharma Buddhism), Tiantai religion, Xianshou religion (also known as Huayan religion), Zen, Pure Land Sect, Buddhism, and Tantric religion (also known as Yan array religion). This is commonly known as the eight sects of sex, physiognomy, platform, sage, Zen, purity, dharma and metaphysics, among which Zen and Pure Land Sect are the most popular sects in China.

Buddhist language family

Buddhism is one of the three major religions in the world today, which originated in ancient India from the 6th century BC to the 5th century BC. Its founder was Siddhartha Gautama, a Sakyamuni from ancient India, namely the Kapilovi Kingdom (now southern Nepal). Buddhism has three major language families in China, namely, Han Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism and Southern Buddhism.

In the 7th century, Songtsan Gampo was proclaimed, and Buddhism was officially introduced into Tibet from India and the mainland. Tibetan Buddhism has formed different sects due to different inheritance, such as Ningma Sect (Red Sect), Sakya Sect (Flower Sect), Kagyu Sect (White Sect) and Gelug Sect (Yellow Sect). It also formed the reincarnation and succession system of the living Buddha. Among them, the Gelug Sect was founded by Zong Kaba on the basis of the original Kadang Sect at the beginning of the 5th century A.D./KLOC-,and later became the most influential Sect among the various sects of Tibetan Buddhism.

Buddhism handed down from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, China and Dehong was introduced from Myanmar in the 7th century according to historical records. Southern Buddhism has four schools in Yunnan, namely, Runrun, Baizhuang, Duolie and Zuodi, which are mainly spread among Dai, Bulang and Achang ethnic minorities.
