Zhongshan City is located in the south-central part of Guangdong Province, which is the downstream of the south-central part of the Pearl River Delta and the place where the Beijiang River enters the sea. Li Hongqi Waterway in the lower reaches of Beijiang River passes through the northeast boundary of the city from northwest to southeast, and exits the Pearl River Estuary from Hongqimen. In the meantime, branches crisscross, in which Xiaolan Waterway and Jiya Waterway cross the northern half of the urban area, merge into Hengmen Waterway, and leave the Pearl River Estuary from Hengmen Waterway.
