Ball-blocking gloves are usually worn on your hands. The main feature of catching gloves is the net in the middle of gloves, which is mainly used to catch high-speed moving objects.
Rules for ball-blocking gloves:
1. Ball-blocking gloves must be rectangular.
2. The pads for protecting the thumb and wrist must be tied tightly on the player's sleeve and closely follow the outline of the thumb and wrist.
3. No part of the ball glove is allowed to protrude.
Development history
Before the 1940s, goalkeepers and other players wore the same gloves. Goalkeeper Emile Francis wore gloves used by baseball first baseman in a game and was approved by the Hockey League. He also sewed a rubber pad on the other glove. These original designs have evolved into special catching gloves and blocking gloves for modern ice hockey goalkeepers.
