Tan Sitong, Yang Rui, Liu Guangdi, Kang.
Six gentlemen in the reform movement of 1898
We should look at this problem dialectically.
Tan Sitong chose to die heroically, which fully demonstrated his noble national integrity and determination to reform. This is undoubtedly a powerful blow to the die-hards and strengthens the determination of people with lofty ideals to reform and save the country. However, Tan Sitong attributed the failure of the reform to the fact that China had never shed blood for the reform, which was one-sided. However, his death showed the heroic fighting spirit of China people who were not afraid of sacrifice, and he died a fair death.
It is wise for Tan Sitong and Liang Qichao to escape together. Only in this way can we preserve our effective strength for the political reform, and hope to make a comeback one day, and do our part for China and reduce the sacrifice.
However, no matter how Tan Sitong chooses, it has become history. From today's perspective, we still regard him as a hero and a bloody victim of the Reform Movement of 1898.
