How reliable are ancient history books?
Generally speaking, scholars think that 20% to 30% is on the high side, among which Historical Records is considered by many scholars as 10 to 20. However, it is not that the event itself is not credible, but there will be many problems in many details, whether it is to cater to it, the angle or the limitation of its own historical level. This will limit its reliability.

China generally compiled the history of the former dynasty, and the records of the former dynasty were recorded by historians. In principle, the emperor can't interfere with and check the records of historians. But with China's autocratic imperial power, it is basically impossible to say non-interference. And there are a large number of people in power who destroy historical materials (whether official or folk).

Therefore, there should be no big problem in the big framework of official history, but the details are hard to say. On the other hand, unofficial history can hardly be trusted. Unless some events are compared with the official history, it cannot be said that there is no credibility in analyzing multiple materials, the situation at that time and other factors. But compared with the official history, it is still incredible.

Personally, the official history is only 20%. There are also differences between official histories, some higher and some lower. Unofficial history is basically a novel, unless it has reference significance in a specific event.
