The historic city Yalta is located here.
Yalta is located at the southern tip of the Crimean Peninsula, which is about 80 kilometers away from the capital Simferopol and the important port city Sevastopol (where the Russian Black Sea Fleet is located), about an hour's drive.

As for Crimea, although it was annexed by Russia in 20 14, it was not universally recognized by the international community including China. 20 13 When visiting Ukraine, take the train from Kiev to Simferopol, its capital, and then take the bus to Yalta. At that time, the entire Crimean peninsula still belonged to Ukraine.

Yalta, a small town along the Black Sea, is the most famous holiday resort in Crimea. From February 4th, 1945 to February 4th, 1945, American President franklin delano roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Spencer Churchill and Soviet Supreme Commander Joseph Vesaliua O 'Norwich Stalin held a historic meeting here, thus laying the foundation for the final end of World War II.

The meeting was held in the Rivakia Palace in Yalta, a seaside town in Crimea. Rivakia Palace is about 3 kilometers away from the center of Yalta town. This is the last summer palace in Tsar Nicholas II. The palace was built in 1862- 1866, with white Crimean granite as the main material and the architectural style of the New Renaissance. It consists of 1 16 rooms, and the interior decoration styles are diverse, showing elegance, exquisiteness and luxury. Now it has become a museum, sometimes hosting some high-level international conferences.

The first thing we saw was the content related to the Yalta meeting.

It is said that President Roosevelt lamented the exquisiteness of the Rivakia Palace. He once asked Stalin if he could buy it in his own name after retirement, but he was turned away. Of course, even if this wish can be realized, President Roosevelt can't enjoy it, because he died before he retired.

Because the Soviet Union had a certain initiative at that time, Roosevelt and Churchill held a compromise mentality and branded the Yalta Conference with Stalin. Stalin himself hated Chiang Kai-shek so much that China, the victorious country, was excluded from the meeting.

The meeting reached three points of consensus on the interests of the Soviet Union and Russia (in fact, Stalin threatened the meeting): First, outer Mongolia must maintain the status quo (which made outer Mongolia finally independent from China and won the unanimous support of major powers); Second, the Russian interests taken away by Japan in China at the beginning of the 20th century must be restored (including the former China territory, Sakhalin Island, Lushun military port, Middle East Railway, South Manchuria Railway, etc.). ); Three, the Kuril Islands (Japan called the four northern islands) belong to the Soviet Union. There is an additional condition, and the above three items can only be realized after the Soviet army sends troops to defeat Japan.

It goes without saying that the United States and Britain betrayed the interests of their ally China to the Soviet Union. That meeting not only laid a curse for the long-term cold war after the war, but also changed the fate of many countries forever. For example, eastern European countries were either annexed by the Soviet Union or fell to the Eastern Group; North Korea and South Korea split from then on; A civil war broke out in China; The four northern islands of Japan were occupied by the Soviet Union for a long time and so on.

Because American President Roosevelt is disabled and inconvenient to move, it is natural to arrange to live in the nearby Rivakia Palace. Another tycoon, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, lives in another famous building in Yalta not far away, the Vorinzov Palace.

Vorinzov Palace, also known as Arupka Palace, was built in 1828- 1848. This is the official residence built by Count Vorinzov, who is the favorite of the Tsar and the Governor of Crimea. As grand as a palace, this building skillfully combines medieval knight castles with English luxury villas, adding elements of Osman and Moore, and was designed by Edward Brewer, the court designer of the Queen of England. Later, it was bought as a palace by czar Alexander III, but it was not really enjoyed because it died later.

Let's go back to the palace in Rivakia.

Another part of the Rivakia Palace shows some traces of the family of Nicholas II, the last Russian czar, who once lived here.

Nicholas II is known as the most mediocre, cowardly, indecisive and tragic monarch in Russian history. The Russian bourgeois revolution overthrew it, and the socialist Bolsheviks finally killed it. His queen, son (Crown Prince), four teenage daughters and servants were also killed. It is said that the scene at that time was extremely tragic. First, the body was strafed with machine guns, then sulfuric acid and gasoline were poured on the body, and all of them were burned and discarded. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the remains of the Tsar family were discovered and confirmed by DNA testing.

1998, then President Yeltsin issued an order to bury Nicholas II's family in Peter Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg, and the Russian Orthodox Church listed him as a martyr in 2000. 20 1 1 I visited Peter Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg when I was traveling in Russia.

It is worth mentioning that in 187 1 year, Russia invaded a large area of land in Yili and northwest China through the "Akuta rebellion" in Xinjiang. After defeating the Akuta rebels, the Qing government sent an imperial envoy Chonghou to the north in 1878 (the fourth year of Guangxu) to sign the Rivakia Treaty with Russia privately on behalf of the Qing government (also known as the Ili Treaty in history), and Russia lost its land and paid compensation. Although the Qing government corrected it and degraded it, it only recovered some losses, and China permanently lost a large area of land west of the Horgos River.

The passage of time makes people feel: when the World War II was won, the three giants gathered together. Although they were jubilant, they all had their own secrets; The re-division of the world pattern is playing with them, which not only punishes those who play with fire, but also lays hidden dangers and bane. Since then, the post-war world has not moved towards real peace, but has become more and more restless. ......

Reading recommendation: Crimea: Sevastopol's Russian Black Sea Fleet is out of date and imposing.

Reading recommendation: Kiev, Ukraine: the mother of the city of Ross, the heart of the Orthodox Church, and the bright pearl on the Dnieper River.
