Zhuozhou has a long history, outstanding people, developed economy, splendid culture and numerous historical sites. Because of its unique geographical location and rich historical and cultural resources, it is known as "the first state in the world". The title written by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty is "Japan's frontier is unparalleled, how difficult it is to be the first state in the world".
Zhuozhou is an ancient cultural city with a history of more than 2,300 years. Qin was located in Zhuoxian, Han in Zhuo Jun, Wei in Fanyang, Tang in Fanyang and Zhuozhou, and Yuan in Zhuozhou Road and Zhuozhou. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to Beiping County and Shuntianfu successively, and was called Zhuoxian County and Beijing in the Republic of China. 1September, 1986, the State Council approved the withdrawal of counties and the establishment of cities, and listed them as a first-class open city.
Throughout the ages, there are many famous people here: Emperor Liu Bei, Duke Zhang Fei of Han Dynasty, Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin and Lu Zhi of Eastern Han Dynasty, Hui Neng, a famous geographer and writer in Northern Wei Dynasty, Li Daoyuan, a famous poet in Tang Dynasty, Lu and Jia Dao, a famous anti-Yuan general in Southern Song Dynasty, a modern poet, scholar Feng Zhi, a famous contemporary playwright and so on. During the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, Fu resisted the Japanese siege in Zhuozhou county for two months, but he was forced to compromise and quit Zhuozhou because he ran out of ammunition and food.
In recent years, Zhuozhou has established three development strategies of "building a city by industry, prospering the city by city and strengthening Beijing", invested in the construction of Zhuozhou shooting base of CCTV, Jingnan Golf Course and Kyoto Golf Course, restored Sanyi Palace, Li Daoyuan's former residence and Lushi Ancestral Hall, and built several reception places such as Chengxin Building and Sunshine Hotel, and the tourism industry has begun to take shape. In 2002, it was named as an excellent tourist city in China by the National Tourism Administration and listed as one of the top 100 cities (counties) with the most dynamic economic development in China by the National Bureau of Statistics.
