In the second year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty (1863)1February 20th, Zeng Guofan saw the trial of a newly-built small steamboat at Anqing Wharf, and wrote emotionally in his diary: The trial construction of this ship will be enlarged in turn, and more ships will be built.
