Wulongchi and Dongyue Temple sites are located in gedian Village, gedian Township, Wuzhi County. The years are Tang and Qing. Wulongchi and Dongyue Temple sites are the seventh batch of cultural relics protection units in Henan Province.
Dongyue Temple has a long history and unique architectural style. Dongyue Temple, commonly known as the Great Temple, is located in the east of Wuzhi County/0/0 km west of dongjiacun, Gedangdian Township. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. By the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, it had become a large scale, covering an area of 120 mu. There are more than 50 ancient buildings and more than 200 famous Taoist communication sites at home and abroad.
However, during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression period, the Japanese invaders forced the masses to repair turrets and came here to dismantle bricks and transport wood, destroying some ancient buildings. During the War of Liberation, the Kuomintang Self-Defense Forces demolished another part to repair the turret. After 1952, all the other buildings were destroyed and Dongyue Temple was razed to the ground. In recent years, in order to protect cultural relics, the masses collected more than 20 inscriptions on Dongyue Temple, including stone pillars 10, and cleaned up the sacrificial pool, which is the only one in our province at present. When we look up at the glittering golden buildings in the sun again, we are deeply impressed by the vicissitudes of the world and the changing situation, and at the same time by the profound cultural heritage.
The architectural style here is very strange. The whole temple faces south, with the north-south building facing the mountain gate as the center line. The whole building is divided into east and west parts. From south to north, the center line is: Ten Yamaraja Hall, Tianqi Daxiong Hall, Jade Emperor Palace, Jade Emperor's Bedroom and Empress Dowager's Bedroom. East and west rows are dedicated to immortals respectively. They are either sitting in danger, kind-hearted or dignified. Many good men and women come here to worship. They either pray for peace, or pray for money, or go to the hospital to eliminate disasters. Here, the incense is strong and the smoke fills the air. People who come here worship piously. They always come and go with good wishes.
The legends here are beautiful and attractive, and they all contain some truth. Just south of the Jade Emperor's bedroom, there is a large pool with a length of12m, a width of10m and a depth of about 20m. This is the legendary sacrificial pool, also known as Wulong Pool. Now the five wells at the bottom of the pool are still clearly visible.
It is said that the water in this pool is supernatural. Even if it rains or dries, the water surface is always about 1 m away from the pool. The water here can cure many diseases. Anyone with filial piety can jump into the pool to hold water and go home to treat his parents without sinking. People who are not filial will sink to the bottom of the pool and drown. The truth of this legend cannot be verified, but it advocates the social atmosphere of filial piety and filial piety to parents, which is still of positive significance today.
The other is a legend about the "living dragon column". When the Temple of the Prince of Yan was built, dragons were carved and circled on two big pillars, but the officials who built the temple were dissatisfied with several carpenters. He was too worried to sleep at night. That night, at dawn, he just fell asleep in a daze. Suddenly, he dreamed that a white-haired old man came up to him and said with a smile, "Tomorrow you will wait for a man with an axe on North Road. He is the man you are looking for. " Say that finish, the old man left. The next day, the official waited on the road according to the instructions of the old man in the dream. When the sun was about to set, he saw an old man in high spirits passing by with an axe on his back. The official hurriedly invited the old man to the temple and told him what had happened in detail. The old man smiled without a word. Although the official was in a hurry, he was embarrassed to say more, so he arranged for the old man to sleep. After the old man and others fell asleep, he began to work. At dawn, two dragons were carved, but the old man was gone. When people put up the post, two dragons swam on it It is speculated that the old man must be Luban, the carpenter's grandfather. The truth of this legend can not be verified at present, but it reflects the exquisite craftsmanship of carpenters at that time from one side.
