Kalimantan island, also translated as Borneo, is the third largest island in the world. Located in the middle of Malay Archipelago in Southeast Asia, it is adjacent to Sumatra Island in the west, Sulawesi Island in the east, Java Sea and Java Island in the south, and the South China Sea in the north. The area is 743,330km2. The population is 9.07 million (1980). Sarawak and Sabah in Malaysia are in the north with Brunei in the middle. The south is Indonesia's five provinces of North, East, South, Central and West Kalimantan. It has a long history, and China history books record it as "Boli", "Bernie", "Bernie" and "Boluo".
