During the Warring States Period, Tangshan was under the jurisdiction of the Yan State, and from the Qin and Han Dynasties to the Southern and Northern Dynasties, it was the territory of Youbeiping County and Liaoxi County, and was later placed under Youzhou. The eastern part of Tangshan area belongs to Beiping County from Sui Dynasty to now, and it is the outpost of Tang Dynasty's enterprising Liaodong expedition to Koguryo. After that, the Liao Dynasty ruled Tangshan for nearly 2 10 years, and then it was the territory of the Jin Dynasty. In the Ming Dynasty, Tangshan smelted iron and coal and became the center of ceramic industry.
1876, the Qing government built mines and coal mines in Kaiping town and set up Qiaotun town. 1899 Qiaotun Town is named Tangshan Town because there is Tangshan (now Dacheng Mountain) in the north of the town, which belongs to Luanzhou. Tangshan City was founded on 1938. 1948 Tangshan was occupied by the People's Liberation Army in February. 1960, cities merged and changed to provincial cities.
