The starting point of this railway is Fengtai Liucun, and the end point is Zhangjiakou. The chief designer of this railway is Zhan Tianyou. Zhan Tianyou, a native of Jiangxi, is a famous patriotic engineer and a railway expert. The railway started on 1906, and 1909 was officially completed and opened to traffic.

design scheme

1905, the Qing government put forward a plan to build the Jing-Zhang railway, and Zhan Tianyou was the chief engineer of the railway, responsible for the design and construction of the railway. At that time, many western powers thought that the Qing government could not design railways independently, but Zhan Tianyou did not give up. In the design of Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, the shaft excavation method and herringbone line design scheme were creatively adopted.

Finally, the 1909 railway was successfully connected. After the completion of the railway, it was successfully opened to traffic, which shocked the design scheme of Zhan Tianyou at home and abroad, so Zhan Tianyou was called "the father of Chinese railways". However, after the completion of the railway design, the Qing government perished and the Republic of China was formally established.
