Around 1206, Tanggu "began to be inhabited". According to historical records, Tanggu was diverted by the Yellow River, which brought a lot of sediment and made it "retreat to the ground". The "Things Change" exhibition hall vividly shows the life of our ancestors with models and projected sand table images. The oyster fossils unearthed from Ningche Ancient in Beitang are also on display here. These fossils, which have been sleeping in the Jiyun Canal for at least a thousand years or even longer, not only prove the changes of Tanggu's geographical features and the origin of several diversions of the Yellow River, but also better reflect the formation opportunity and evolution process of Tanggu's marine culture.

"Salt" is of great significance in Tanggu history. Because Tanggu underground beach is flat and sunny, it is very beneficial to the development of salt industry. As early as the Yuan Dynasty, Jianfeng Salt Field was established in Tanggu. Over the past 700 years, Tanggu Yantian has been expanding, and salt industry has become an important industry supporting economic development. Historically, Tanggu is not only famous for its salt, but also the smooth water transportation has made this area a prosperous transportation hub. Using digital projection and ancient coins, lumps and other cultural relics unearthed from Jiefang Road Street, Salt Prosperity Caochang reproduces the landscape of Tanggu area with developed commerce, cars coming and going, and salt fields everywhere.

In "Haimen Ancient Tournament", a big iron clock is displayed in the most eye-catching position. It is an ancient iron clock, which was cast in 1864 to commemorate Le Shan, the governor of Zhili who died in Dagukou Fort. Used to hang in Leweiyi Temple. But in 1900, after the fall of Dagubao, the iron clock was taken away by the British. Until 2005, with the efforts of many parties, 105 Dagu Iron Bell finally returned to Tanggu. According to the staff of the museum, putting the iron clock in such a conspicuous position is to let people remember its bumpy history, and at the same time, I hope that everyone can see the brand-new friendship between the Chinese and British people from war to peace.

Dagu Shipyard

The locomotives, daguzao rifles and various iron cannons in the exhibition hall of "rejuvenating the country through industry" concentrated on the scene that a group of people with lofty ideals and industrialists set up factories in Tanggu to develop the national economy in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. Jiuda Refined Salt Factory, Li Yong Soda Factory and Dagu Wharf were all built in this period, and this theme reflects the important position of Tanggu in modern industrial history. In addition, it also shows the "ancient dawn" of Tanggu people's efforts to build their hometown in the early days of the founding of New China, and the "bright pearl" of Tanggu District's rapid development and great changes after the founding of New China, especially in recent years, all of which show the rapid development of Tanggu with rich physical objects and documents.
