The background story of Only This Green
Only this piece of green is a dance poetic drama adapted from the famous national treasure painting "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains".

This Green tells the story of a young researcher in the Forbidden City who "crossed" back to the Northern Song Dynasty from the perspective of an exhibitor and "caught a glimpse" of the painter Wang Ximeng's "A Thousand Miles of Mountains and Rivers" only through seven chapters: exhibition, seal cutting, silk singing, stone searching, writing brush, ink quenching and painting. The story is not complicated, but the dancer's silent interpretation and abstract expression of some plots and scenes has raised the threshold for the audience to "enter the painting" to a certain extent, but this does not prevent "only this youth" from "going out of the circle" by beauty.

About the author

Wang Ximeng, a student of Hui Zong Art Academy, studied under Hui Zong Evonne. He is a genius, making rapid progress, but his life span is not long. Only one of his works is "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains". According to historical records, Wang Ximeng was only 18 years old when he created this painting, but he has become a master of artistic skills. The author mainly inherits the traditional "green method", properly absorbs Dong Yuanhe's brushwork, and flexibly integrates Guo's "three distances" landscape composition, which is very varied.

"A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" depicts the natural scenery in the south of the Yangtze River, with mountains, rivers and lakes, wide boundaries and magnificent momentum. In the meantime, bamboo forests, terraces, manors, pontoon pavilions, and various people exchange activities are numerous and unforgettable. The whole tone, with warm ochre, reflects azurite and turquoise, which is unified, harmonious and dazzling, giving people a deep and vivid impression of the grandeur of the vast land of the motherland.
