According to historical records, from 946 A.D. to 1000 before liberation, the Yellow River overflowed and burst 57 times in Yuanyang County. Due to the repeated diversion of the Yellow River, the people of Yuanyang, who live in this land, have suffered from floods and salinity. The jingle "winter and spring are white, summer and autumn are watery, saline-alkali land is everywhere, and no grain is cultivated" is a true portrayal of Yuanyang County at that time.
