Nanzhang is located in the eastern Henan plain, with fertile land and pleasant climate, suitable for the growth of various crops and perfect agricultural infrastructure. Grain crops mainly include wheat, corn and high grain, and the annual output of wheat can reach 22,300 tons. In addition, it is also rich in cotton, peanuts, sesame seeds and soybeans. Vegetables are famous for "Nanzhang green onions" and "Chinese cabbage". Nanzhang is rich in animal husbandry with a long history, especially cattle, goats, pigs and angora rabbits. By 2009, there are14,000 large livestock and 30,000 green goats in the whole town. There are five chicken farms with ten thousand people in the town, and six specialized chicken villages have been built.
Paulownia planting is another resource advantage in Nanzhang, and the stock of paulownia in the town can reach more than 50 thousand cubic meters. Since 2000, Nanzhang township enterprises have risen rapidly, and their development prospects are very broad. It has formed a commodity production pattern with four major industries, such as hat-making, brick-making, food processing and paulownia plate processing, as the pillars, with prominent focus and diverse categories.
