The Course of History is a war drama directed by Lian He and starring Lian, Nie Yuan and He. It premiered on Shandong Qilu Channel on June 25th, 2009.

The play is a companion to Historical Sky. It tells the story of Ding, a small town in Dabie Mountains. Before the Anti-Japanese War, two landlords, Ding Jia and Qi Jia, were fighting for land in the town. Later, when the Japanese invaded, Ding was baptized by the war, refused to be a traitor, took part in the revolution and became a party member.
