How far is Belgorod from St. Petersburg?
On July 26th, the fourth day of coming to Russia, we set off from St. Petersburg early in the morning and went to Novgorod.

Novgorod, about 200 kilometers from St. Petersburg, is called Silver Ring Town (the silver Norkhov River surrounds the town). Founded in 859, the city has a population of only 200,000. It is the seat of the state government of Novgorod.

Novgorod (новгород) literally translates as "new city", but in fact it is the oldest city in Russia.

As for the origin of the city, it first began with the activities of the vikings. According to Russian chronicles, in order to pacify the war in Novgorod and save the people suffering from the war, Ryurik, a Russian nation, came here in 862 AD and established the Principality of Novgorod. Later, the Lyurik dynasty spread throughout Russia and ruled for seven and a half centuries, laying the foundation of the Russian state.

Novgorod (новгород) is an ancient trade route from Central Asia to Northern Europe and the first capital of Russia in the 9th century. Novgorod (новгород) has many churches and monasteries, and has become a real center for priests and architecture in Russia. Its medieval remains and Dior mortal (teacher of Andrei Rubilov)14th century murals describe the development of the city's famous architecture and cultural creativity.

As the birthplace of Russian history, Novgorod is regarded by Russians as the holy land of their primitive culture. The Russian National Tourism Network once wrote: "If Kiev is the mother of Russia, then Novgorod can be called the father of Russia", which shows its important position in the eyes of Russians. So Moscow is the political and economic capital of Russia, St. Petersburg is the cultural capital of Russia, and Novgor is undoubtedly the spiritual capital of Russia.

I saw a statue of Lenin in Novgorod (Figures 5 and 6). There are fewer and fewer statues of Lenin in Russia now.
