Group history
Berthold Kempinski was born on June 6th, 2000 in lashko, Posen (formerly a province of Prussia, now a province of Poland). He is one of the two boys in the family. 1862, his brother opened a special restaurant in breslau and Posen called M. Kempinski &; Berthold Company joined in two years later. They worked hard to start a business together. 10 years later, that is, 1872, berthold and his wife Hailin moved to Berlin and opened a restaurant with the same name, which soon developed into a restaurant with rooms.
Berthold is ambitious. When he saw the success of his new career, he thought of further development. He found a suitable place. 1889, he opened a restaurant with several restaurants in Leipziger Strasse-the largest restaurant in Berlin at that time.
Since berthold and Helena have no sons, Richard unger, the husband of their daughter Frieda, joined the small company. Facts have proved that Richard is very clever and has played an important role in the company's continuous success. 1897, Hotel Betriebs-Aktiengesellschaft Hotel Management Company was established, which is the historical starting point of Kempinski Hotel today.
When berthold realized that his son-in-law could run the company independently, he retired and Richard took charge of the company from now on, but the company name remained unchanged. Berthold Kempinski died on 19 10 March 14, thus withdrawing from the historical stage.
Until World War I, Richard, who owned the company, successfully built a huge industrial complex around his food industry. Business was running smoothly during World War I, and Richard bought his own production center after the war. Later, because Kurfürstendamm Street became more and more famous, Richard bought and operated a restaurant at Dam No.27 in Ku (Kempinski Bristol Hotel still stands proudly here today). ) 1928, m. Kempinski &; Co. also took over Haus Vaterland in Potsdam Square and put forward a sensational new concept-entertainment food-which can be said to be unheard of in Berlin.
After success, tragedy followed. 1937, Richard Unger and his family moved to the United States to escape the war. Unfortunately, the restaurant in Kurfürstendamm 27 was burnt down in a fire shortly after the war, and all the other properties of Richard unger were destroyed.
However, the name Kempinski is destined to have a long history. After the war, Dr. Friedrich W. unger, the grandson of berthold and the son of Richard unger, returned to Germany. 195 1 year, he began to build a hotel directly on the ruins of the original restaurant Kurfürstendamm 27. A year later, Kempinski Hotel opened and became the most modern and popular hotel at that time. Kempinski Hotel is the first five-star hotel in Berlin, which is famous for its series of innovations. Building an indoor swimming pool is an example.
In 1953, Dr. Friedrich W. Unger sold his shares in the company to Hotel Betriebs-Aktien Gesellschaft, who used to run Bristol and Kaiserhof hotels. The name of Bristol was accepted and used by Kudam Hotel 27, which is the origin of the name of Kempinski Hotel in Bristol today. Kempinski Bristol Hotel is the first industry of this global hotel group. 1970, Hotel Betriebs-Aktiengesellschaft was renamed Kempinski Hotel Betriebs-Aktiengesellschaft. Company 1977 was renamed Kempinski A.G. In August 2002, at the annual general meeting of shareholders in Munich, the largest shareholder of Kempinski AG (holding 98.2% of the shares) passed a resolution to purchase the remaining 1.8% of the shares of the company according to the provisions of the new German company law on minority equity management.
Over the years, the company has achieved other remarkable milestone successes in Germany. 1957, Atlantic Hotel Hamburg, also known as "White Castle", was built on the shores of Ulster Lake. 1970, owned 50% of the shares of Vier Jahreszeiten Hotel in Munich. The hotel has established a long-term cooperative relationship with Lufthansa, which is also a shareholder of the hotel. 1977 Join the group at the Gravenbruch Hotel near Frankfurt.
1985, Lufthansa purchased the shares of Kempinski, enabling the German traditional hotel group to operate hotels overseas. Kempinski Hotel was founded by Kempinski, Lufthansa and Rolaco, and the company is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. Its mission is still to expand the group around the world, and to preserve characteristic hotel or personalized hotels with a long history or brand-new style.
