Today's goalkeeper generally refers to the sum of Qin, the general of the Tang Dynasty. But the history of the door god is much earlier than that of the Tang Dynasty. According to Shan Hai Jing, in the era of the Yellow Emperor, shentu and his two brothers were good at catching ghosts. If an evil spirit harms the world, tie it up and feed it to the tiger. Later, in order to ward off evil spirits and resist ghosts, people carved the images of Shen Tu and Lei Yu with peaches, hung them at the door every Spring Festival and drew a tiger on the door. For a long time, they have been honored as door gods. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei in the Three Kingdoms period were also honored as door gods. In the Tang Dynasty, the legendary ghost catcher Zhong Kui also entered the hades sequence. It was not until the Yuan and Ming Dynasties that the stories of Qin Qiong and Jingde gradually took root in people's hearts and their status as door gods was fixed.
Qin Qiong and Jingde became legends of door gods. There are two effects. One is written by The Journey to the West: The King of Jinghe has committed a crime and will be punished by the Tang Dynasty. The King of Jinghe turned to Li Shimin for help, and Li Shimin left Wei Zhi to play chess. Unexpectedly, Wei Zhi took a nap while playing chess, and he had already "dreamed of beheading the dragon king". King Jinghe blamed Li Shimin for this and pestered him every night. Li Shimin had to ask Qin Qiong and Jingde to stay in front of the bed, so he could sleep peacefully. According to The Romance of Sui and Tang Dynasties, there was a time when Li Shimin was in a bad mood. When he sleeps at night, he often hears bricks and tiles thrown outside the bedroom and ghosts screaming, which makes the harem restless every night. He was afraid and told his minister about it. General Qin Qiong said, "I've been an officer all my life, killing enemies like a melon and collecting corpses like ants. Why are you afraid of ghosts? " I am willing to guard the palace gate with Jingde. "Li Shimin agreed. Nothing happened that night. Since then, I have put two generals on guard every night. Later, Li Shimin remembered that they had worked hard all night, so he ordered the painter to draw the face of the second general and stick it on the door. Replacing people with paintings is also the way to do things, and what goes around comes around comes around. Han people followed it and became door gods. On New Year's Eve, the old folk custom of the Han people is to paste "Qin Qiong respects morality" on the street gate to ward off evil spirits and drive away disasters, and to receive blessings to welcome auspicious events and bless their families. This legendary keeper has continued to this day. Every year during the Spring Festival, many people put the respected keeper of Qin Qiong and Dede on their doors.
