1773, the British Parliament promulgated the tea tax law to help domestic businessmen dump to North America, and the British East India Company monopolized the tea trade. 1773 12 16, a batch of tea was shipped to Boston harbor. Sons of liberty-organized by 60 local people-sneaked into three ships disguised as Indians, destroyed the cargo on board and dumped 342 boxes of tea into the port. The whole process was quite peaceful and quiet. However, this move is seen as a provocation against the colonial government. The British government sent troops to suppress it, which eventually led to the first shot of the American War of Independence in April 1775.
