What dowry did the most famous pro-princesses in the Tang Dynasty bring?
In the history of China, women often have no status and even become a commodity. "Harmony" is a "wonderful flower" in the long history, which contains the helplessness and even humiliation of the royal family. But for the Tang Dynasty, the meaning of "affinity" changed a little, and it showed an outstanding political wisdom. Speaking of "in-laws" in the Tang Dynasty, Princess Wencheng is the most famous.

Princess Wencheng

Princess Wencheng is the distant daughter of Emperor Taizong. History books say that she is smart, beautiful, knowledgeable and polite.

In 638 AD, the Tibetan king Songzan Gambo on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau heard that Noyibo, the king of neighboring Tuyuhun, proposed to the Tang Dynasty, and immediately sent envoys to the Tang Dynasty with expensive gifts. Unexpectedly, Emperor Taizong promised to betroth Princess Honghua to Nuoju, but refused Songzan Gambu's proposal of marriage. Songzan Gambu was very angry and wrote to Emperor Taizong: "If you don't agree to marry the princess to me, I will lead 50 thousand troops to capture the Tang State, kill you and take the princess." The two sides really had a war at the border, which ended in the failure of Tubo.

Later, Songzan Gambu took the initiative to send messengers to apologize and make peace, so the two sides got married. Emperor Taizong chose Li Yaner from a distant imperial clan, made her Princess Wencheng, and promised to marry Songzan Gambu. Songtsan Gampo was canonized by the Tang Dynasty after his marriage with his relatives, and the two sides have been friendly for decades.

Princess's dowry

According to books such as The Hereditary Mirror of Tubo Dynasty, when Princess Wencheng entered Tibet, the team was very large, and the dowry of Emperor Taizong was very rich. There are "Buddha statues of Sakyamuni, treasures, jade bookcases, 360 volumes of classics and various jade ornaments", as well as various cooking foods, various patterns of brocade quilts, 60 architectural and technical works, 65,438+000 prescriptions for treating diseases, 4 medical works, 6 medical instruments, various grains and turnip seeds.

Princess Wencheng has been living in Tibet since the death of Songzan Gambo. She loves Tibetan compatriots and is deeply loved by the people. Under her influence, the technologies of milling, weaving, pottery making, paper making and wine making of the Han nationality were spread to Tubo one after another; She brought poems, agricultural books, Buddhist scriptures, historical books, medical books, calendars and other classics, which promoted the economic and cultural development of Tubo and strengthened the friendly relations between the Chinese and Tibetan people. The golden Buddha statue of Sakyamuni she brought is still worshipped by the Tibetan people.

Kissing is an expedient measure.

However, the peace won by blood relationship cannot last forever. After Songzan Gambu died, his grandson Mansong Mangzan succeeded to the throne, and the affinity effect of Princess Wencheng also ended. In 663 AD, after the Tubo conquered the neighboring Tuyuhun, they met the Tang Dynasty immediately.
